As I was surfing through sites, I came across this band, Tearjerker. This band is from Toronto, and is associated with many indie rock scenes in Canada. This band is not so well known, but they are trying. They offer free songs on their website just to get the word out about their band. They also featured on the infamous website, hipstermusic.com. This website features good bands but, alot are mainstream, and the word "hipster" is not so accepted by the indie crowd. Anyways, this band featured in many Canadian concerts such as, Toronto's Loveless. This band waqs created in 2008 until now. Their new album Rare, came out in November, and it is their bands most sucessful album. This band is great, since I have a first cousin that works at Urban Outfitters, I asked her if they could play their album, Rare, in her store, and it played. All the employee's were asking. "Who is this band?, They're amazing!"

I definitely wanna check them out. And why is hipstermusic.com known for being infamous? You misspelled was with "waqs." Also you might wanna use a semicolon at "This band is great; since I have a first..." Otherwise this is well written and I don't really notice any other grammatical errors.
ReplyDeleteNeat, maybe I'll check out Tearjerker some time. How many albums do they have? You also made a spelling error when you tried to say "was". You said "waqs".
ReplyDeleteNice, i really want to check out the hipstermucis.com, sounds like good place to check out new music. However i didnt like how you didnt give much info about the actual band. finally what is toranto loveness?

ReplyDeleteListen to your classmates, but go a step further. Proofread your post before you publish it. You'd have likely picked up on the many errors here and corrected them before they passed before MY eyes.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny. Many people don't care about spelling any more, because of technology like the Internet and spellcheck. However, Andrew S will certainly have trouble if he goes to hipstermucis.com. Still, I bet that site is better than going to hipstermucus.com or hipstermonkey.com. Actually, hipstermonkey.com could be fun. I also hope Andrew doesn't try to drive to Toranto. It'll take him a loooooooooooooooong time to find a city that doesn't exist.
Yes, spelling counts. Spelling always counts.
Some writing tips:
1. Plurals and possessives are an issue. You write of the employee's, which shows possession. You mean that there is more than one employee. Hence, you should write "employees". In this dreadful sentence, you write: "Their new album Rare, came out in November, and it is their bands most sucessful album." Don't you mean THE BAND'S most SUCCESSFUL album? If you take another look, and put some care into your wording, you can fix that one easily. Also, don't put a comma between the subject and predicate of the sentence.
2. The comma goes before the "but".
3. You simply need more development. There is a 500 word minimum and a word count stipulation listed on the blog expectations. Dig into their sound a bit more to further develop this piece of writing.
4. "A lot" is always two words.
5. Blogger.com has spellcheck available. Use it.
Everyone should get over whatever grammatical errors this dude has made and just check out the damn band. It has 2 of my closest childhood friends in it and they are awesome. Listen to them, like them, love them and get the eff over yourselves already...
